If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to receive Up From Splat updates. Find out why subscribing to Up From Splat might be the smartest thing you've done this week! :) Thanks for visiting!
Have you ever had an idea to do something, done some research, and discovered that someone else is already doing it? Have you let that oh-I’m-too-late-I-missed-my-chance splat stop you from pursuing your idea?
Here’s your short, sweet message for the day:
Never, ever back away from doing something just because someone else has already done it. You can ALWAYS put your own authentic imprint on the already-done.
Don’t believe me?
What could be older and more done-to-death than Old McDonald Had A Farm?

Do you have something you want to do? Forget the market research and the analyzing whether you can “”compete.” Who cares if a gazillion other people are doing the same thing?
Just go do what you want to do!
Do it in your way. Do it with passion. Do it with joy.
And like Edward Reid, you will receive the “ovation” you deserve!
Note: Tune in next week for some advice on how to let your passions lead you into an awesome feel-good place!
Thanks to Up From Splat reader, Kathleen, for bringing this video to my attention!!

Such truth in that, Ande.
I saw that video on TV last week — people were agog over this fellow’s interpretation of that song!
I feel that everyday I’m, in essence, simply rehashing via my blog and other writings what Abraham-Hicks has said with unparalleled clarity and brilliance. But I LOVE what I’m doing so, as you say, I just do it my way, with passion and joy and don’t worry one nano-second about being an imitator.

Karen, thanks for sharing your experience with doing what’s been done before but in your own unique and wonderful way. You’re another terrific example of how an authentic spin on old information can be SO valuable. I love the way you share Abe’s teachings!

Ande,
You know you’re so right! We shouldn’t be held back by someone doing something we want to do already. I used to feel very inhibited about that but I don’t anymore. Thanks! Loved the videos.

That was great. Makes me realize that so many things could serve us in a different way. We just have to change our vision, get creative and think outside the box. Oh yeah…and have a little fun!

Hi Ande,
PERFECT advice for me today. Well, every day, actually!
Half the time I want to do a blog post, I get hampered by the idea that it’s probably been said somewhere at sometime by someone. Well, duh, of course it has!
But you are so right, no one says it quite like me.
Or you, for that matter! Thank you!

I’m glad it came right when you needed it, Patti! It’s nothing new, but I think we need to hear it a lot … or at least, I do.

My screenwriting instructor (who went on to be creator of DaVinci’s Inquest, most successful here in Canada) said to us on the first day of class:
It’s been done.
It’s all been done.
But it hasn’t been done by YOU.
In a strange way, I found that rather inspiring.
Thanks for Old MacDonald. Close to my heart because since I was in Kindergarten, I’ve been spelling my last name to people according to the E-I-E-I-O chorus…
Life is nothing if not exuberant.
I like knowing that’s how my kid & I live.
